Turbine Upgrade

Increased Production and Efficiency
In August 2009, the first of the 50+ year old turbines was lifted out of the Box Canyon power house. The following three turbines were replaced in 2012, 2013 and 2015.

Upstream Fish Passage

Habitat Enhancement EffortsAs part of its FERC license for Box Canyon Dam, the PUD is required to provide upstream fish passage for three native migratory salmonid (salmon trout and Char) target species: Bull Trout, Westslope Cutthroat Trout, and Mountain Whitefish.
