Storms can roll in fast here in Pend Oreille County, and when they do, they can damage the equipment that keeps your lights on. At Pend Oreille PUD, we’re ready to respond, and we maintain the poles, power lines, meters, transformers, and service lines that deliver electricity to your home or business.
From the meter into your home, the responsibility shifts to you. That includes the weatherhead, meter pole, service mast, and wiring. If this equipment is damaged, a licensed electrician will need to make repairs before our crews can safely restore power.
Understanding which equipment belongs to the PUD and which belongs to you helps keep everyone safe and makes it easier to get power back on quickly. And if you ever have questions, just give us a call. We’re here to help.
PUD-owned equipment vs. customer-owned equipment
This graphic shows equipment owned by the PUD (in blue) and the customer (in gold). If a storm damages PUD-owned equipment, we are responsible for repairs. If customer-owned equipment is damaged, the customer is responsible for repairs. Customers should always hire a licensed electrician for repairs to their equipment.
