Powering Pend Oreille County for Nearly 100 Years
Formed in 1936 under Washington’s Title 54, Pend Oreille PUD is a community-owned, nonprofit utility providing safe and reliable electric, water and broadband services to Pend Oreille County. All utility costs are recovered through customer rates and grant funding.

The Start of Public PowerIn the early part of the 20th century there was electricity. What was lacking was affordable and
accessible electricity in the rural areas of Washington. It was access to affordable power in rural
communities that was the key driver of the public utility district movement.

The PUD is governed by three locally elected commissioners who serve six year staggered terms. The Commission is the legislative authority of the PUD and establishes and controls policy. Our Commissioners are here to serve you. Feel free to contact them anytime by phone or email (see below).

2026 Electric Rate Adjustment
Pend Oreille PUD is implementing a 2. 5% revenue adjustment to electric rates to keep pace with rising operating costs and maintain system reliability and safety. This does not mean your kWh rate, or your bill, will automatically go up by 2. 5%.
